New Jersey City University is a public university in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States. It is a member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and the National Association of Schools of Music. The university offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a variety of disciplines.

It was founded in 1855 as the Jersey City Medical College. The college was the first medical school in New Jersey and the only one in the city at the time. In 1907, the college became a part of Rutgers University. In 1927, the college moved to its current location on Montgomery Street and was renamed the Jersey City College of Arts and Sciences. The college became a part of the newly formed New Jersey State Teachers College in 1929. In 1938, the college was accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In 1954, the college was renamed Jersey City State College. In 1968, the college was renamed again, this time to New Jersey City University.
